"Courage starts with showing up and being seen" -Brené Brown
Life can feel overwhelming-whether you’re navigating strained relationships, struggling to set healthy boundaries, or picking up the pieces after a devastating loss. It’s easy to lose sight of who you are and how to move forward. If you feel stuck and at the end of your rope, you don’t have to face it alone. I believe there’s always a way through the darkness, even when it seems impossible. Sometimes, all we need is someone to believe in us when our own hope has faded. I’m here to walk alongside you toward greater physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being.
Meet Tammie Smeltzer
Welcome to COR Restorative Counseling! Northern Colorado has been my home for many years, and I have loved raising my family close to the scenic Rocky Mountains. Outside the counseling office, I’m often cheering on my son at soccer games, exploring mountain trails, or spending meaningful time with loved ones. I also enjoy a good cup of coffee, reading, and journaling. It's in nature, and in those quiet moments that I find inspiration and restoration.
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Christian Counseling from Liberty University. After years devoted to raising my five children and serving in education, including time as an administrator in a private Christian school, I felt a strong calling into the counseling field. This journey later in life gives me a broader perspective, shaped by real world experiences in parenting, marriage, divorce, blended families, and the demands of modern life.
As a Christian, my faith is central to my outlook, and guides my work. Yet, I recognize that not everyone seeks a faith based approach, and I respect each client's unique journey. My commitment is to honor your personal values, whether or not you choose to integrate faith into therapy.
Therapeutic Approach
At COR Restorative Counseling, I combine my personal life experiences with professional training to create a warm, supportive space for healing and growth. My approach is eclectic, drawing on person-centered, integrative, and existential methods to help you discover deeper meaning and purpose. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to identify and shift negative thought patterns, providing practical tools that support lasting change.
As we work together, we’ll explore your story, heal past wounds, and nurture the courage to embrace a healthier, more fulfilling life. You don’t have to walk this path alone—I’m here to help.
Why COR Restorative Counseling?
“COR” is the Latin word for “heart” and the root of “courage,” reflecting the belief that genuine strength and restoration come from the core of who we are. From a Christian perspective, it’s also a symbol of hope: God’s power to mend broken hearts and bring renewal. Finding the courage to face our deepest pain is never easy, but it's often the first step to reclaiming joy, building resilience, and moving forward with renewed hope and purpose.
I offer individual counseling for young adults (18+), women, and men, as well as couples counseling. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing, I would be honored to walk beside you. Let’s take that first step together.
